North Wind
On July 1, 1926, the North Wind was steaming along Lake Huron's North Channel on, by most accounts, a beautiful clear day. Inexplicably, she struck Robertson Rock. The crew abandoned ship and the North Wind sank.

The 297 foot Michigan was engaged in removing the grain from the stranded Riverton at Hope Island in Nov. 1943, when she was blown into the shallows by high winds. Today, the wreck lies in 5-20 feet of water with much machinery and metalwork to view.

Mapledawn
On Nov. 30. 1924 gales stranded the Mapledawn, bound for Port McNichol with a barley cargo, on Christian Island in a blinding snowstorm. Two weeks of salvage recovered 75,000 bushels of barley but the ship was declared a total loss.

The Kinghorn was one of seven wheat-laden schooner-barges being towed by the Hiram A. Walker on Apr. 27, 1897. A storm sank three of the barges, with the Kinghorn leaking so badly it sank just before reaching Rockport.
